This is my 15th year of teaching.  I am originally from Memphis, but I moved to Arkansas in 1997.  I began my teaching career in Jacksonville, Arkansas in 2003.  I have taught first, second, third, and fifth grade (interim).  I have also worked for Head Start. I graduated from Arkansas State University in 2003 with a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education and again in 2011 with a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.  For the past 4 years, I have served as a Learning Coach (2014) and Instructional Fellow (2015-present) for Shelby County Schools. I have two beautiful daughters and one incredibly funny Chihuahua named Diva. When I’m not taking care of them I enjoy reading, cooking, listening to music, and traveling.

First grade is an exciting time for you and your child! Your child will have many new experiences this year. They will become independent readers, writers, and mathematicians. As your child’s teacher, I will strive to make learning fun and enriching.  However, I need your help to make this year a success.  I believe that you and I must work a team.  We must encourage our children to do their best and never give up – even when things get tough. Please check daily and weekly folders, sign and return papers, and read to your child daily. Encourage independence and perseverance.
